Raiding Rules
Signing up
- If you are new to raiding, want to bring a new character, or want a current character to be cleared for new raid content please post your character and any relevant information to the latest gear/spec post. If you are uncomfortable submitting your character to that post, feel free to contact us directly.
- No pressure!
- Do not feel pressured to sign up as a class or role you do not want to play. We want everyone to have fun and play the class or role you want!
- Also, do not feel pressured to sign up for a raid you don’t want to run as well. We do appreciate when an “overgeared” player signs up for a raid they may not need any more since it can help the raid be successful, but we definitely do not want you to feel pressured or make you come to a raid when you don’t want to.
- When signing up, please check the “preferred” option if you would rather play one character over another. You can also write a note on your signup if you prefer a certain role over another. We will take the preferences into consideration when doing the seating, but even if you tell us that you prefer a certain role or character, we may sometimes slot you on another character or role just because we are short in that area. So, just keep that in mind and don’t sign up a character/role unless you really don’t mind raiding with it :)
- Please be aware that DotA and Cake or Death raids may conflict, and make sure you do not double book yourself if you are raiding with both guilds.
Getting Seated for a Raid
- Once you are seated, it is very important that you contact us as soon as possible if you find out that you can’t make the raid after all. We do not check the raid signups every day, so it is easy for us to miss if you have removed yourself from the signups after getting seated. We need as much time as possible to arrange for replacements, so the sooner the better!
- If you find out that you cannot attend the raid after all and the raid is that day, it is even more important to contact us asap.
- If you do not contact us about not being able to show up for a raid several times, it may impact your seating in the future.
Being Alted for a Raid
- If there are any no-shows we will ask for you to fill in. We will try to give as much notice as possible, but sometimes may not know we need an alt until 10-15 minutes after raid start time.
- If you cannot fill in as an alt for any reason, please remove yourself from the signup list and CONTACT US so that we know to arrange for another alt if needed.
- Please be ready according to the guidelines in Raid Start Time below.
Raid Start Time
- Please be ready for the raid 15 minutes prior to raid start time. This is so that we can get everyone invited, groups situated and summons sent out so that we can all start on time.
- Lateness:
- If you are more than 5 minutes late without prior notice or 15 minutes WITH prior notice, you will be replaced.
- If you know that you will be cutting it close to raid start time, please log your character out near the raid entrance.
- You may not get your spot back once you have been replaced.
- Consumables:
- You are expected to have flasks suitable for your role for the entire duration of the raid, especially if it is progression content.
- Everyone should bring potions appropriate to their class/spec to use during progression content. Everyone should have health pots and also mana pots if they apply.
- Mods:
- Threat meter – necessary for tanks and dps. Healers can also use this to know if someone is going to get threat and need extra heals
- Ventrilo – You must be able to listen. Talking is not required.
- Boss Mods – Deadly Boss Mods, Big Wigs, Deus Vox Encounters. ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY to have one of these.
- Debuff Manager – Decursive or some other alternative to know when someone has a debuff that you need to dispell.
- All of your mods should be UP TO DATE and ready to go when invites start. It can take a while to update mods, and this is another thing that can make raids start late.
- Threat meter – necessary for tanks and dps. Healers can also use this to know if someone is going to get threat and need extra heals
- Read up on any fights you are not familiar with that are on the list for that raid. If you are unsure which bosses will be covered in a raid, feel free to contact us to check.
During the Raid
- We will be taking 5 minute scheduled breaks every hour on the hour after the raid starts. If you can please hold off on your afk’s til this time that would really help the entire raid to go smoothly. We expect everyone to return from the scheduled breaks on time. If you cannot wait for the scheduled break, please WHISPER the raid leader letting them know and place yourself on follow if it is safe to do so.
- If you disagree with a strategy, loot, or something the raid leader is doing, please take it up with her in whispers.
- If you supply an alternate strategy, do not be offended if it is not used. A lot of times the raid leaders put a lot of time into researching strategies and if they don’t choose to move over to yours there is probably a very good reason for this.
- Vent:
- You can talk all you like during downtime in the raid. But please try to keep vent clear when we approach a boss, as the raid leader will need to start explanations. If you need to say something during explanations, please write it out in raid chat instead of interrupting on vent.
- Keep vent clear during fights unless you are specifically asked to call something out or there is an emergency the raid should know about. If there are too many people calling things out on vent it can get confusing. If you feel that something is not getting called out properly, please whisper the raid leader about it after that fight and they can start calling that out or designate someone else to do so.
- Negativity:
- Negativity towards the raid, individuals or bosses can really bring down the entire raid. If you are having a bad day and are feeling negative towards the raid, please arrange for a replacement and step out. We are all here to have fun, and even when we’re working on progression content we do not need to have negativity bringing us all down.
- Finger pointing is not tolerated. We understand that learning a new boss or not progressing as fast as you would like can be stressful, but pointing fingers and placing blame on others will not help. Instead everyone should look at what they can do to improve the raid personally. If you do see something that someone might improve on, you should do so in a friendly, non-aggressive manner. We are all in this together, and we can get better together! But it does not help the team to single someone out and make them feel bad.
- Please don’t whine/complain if you’re not able to get loot that you wanted. Everyone deserves a chance, including people who might not even be in the guild. ESPECIALLY do not complain before loot is assigned in an effort to guilt trip someone into handing over the item to you. You will be spoken to by an officer after the raid if this behavior is seen.
- Please do not come to raids impaired by either drugs or alcohol. It is unfair to the rest of the group when you are playing poorly because you don’t have a clear head. Remember that 9 (or 24) other people are counting on you to be competent and level headed.
HAVE FUN!
- The most important thing is to have fun. If everyone is having fun, even if we are wiping a lot, the raid as a whole can still have some good times. The rules above are just written to help ensure that everyone does have fun!
