10-man Loot Rules
Generally our loot system is pretty simple. One item per person, main spec over off-spec.
Caveats:
- Main spec always has priority over off-spec, even if that person has already won things that evening.
- Items should never be DE’d if they can be useful, even if a person has already won a lot of items.
- The rules are one item per night, so if you attend two different nights of the same raid, your loot list is ‘cleared’ for day 2
- The Master Looter will attempt to call loot in an order to distribute as evenly as possible (more below)
- If an offspec item is your first awarded loot of the night, it still counts as your one item for the night. You are not eligible for dibs on main spec loot that drops unless no one else needs it. (more below)
If you are a person who frequently plays two specs in raids for us, please let us know what your main spec is at the beginning of the raid. That will count as your main spec for the duration of the raid.
The Master Looter will attempt to call loot in an order to distribute as evenly as possible:
It is up to the Master Looter’s discretion what order the loot is distributed, but the hope is for distribution to be as even as possible. For example, in the case where two tanking items drop, some bracers and a shield.
Let’s say that there are two tanks in the raid who can use those items. One of them already has the shield, the other tank needs both items. Neither tank has won and item yet. The master looter should first call for rolls on the shield (where the only tank who needs the shield will have it defaulted to them). Then rolls will be open for the bracers, which the other tank will have defaulted to them since the first tank already won something. This prevents one tank from unfairly getting both items, if the first tank had won the bracers in a roll and then the second tank still wouldn’t need the shield, so the shield would be defaulted to the first tank.
If an offspec item is your first awarded loot of the night, it still counts as your one item for the night:
Offspec items do count as your one item per night, but if no one else needs items later in the evening you can still have them given to you. This is to prevent a situation where one tank could get multiple pieces of dps offspec loot earlier in the evening, and then a tanking item drops which both tanks need, and the tank who has tons of offspec loot wins it. It can be argued many different ways but overall we feel that situation is not a fair one to the tank who gets nothing.
25-man Loot Rules
We use Suicide Kings for our 25-man loot rules. Please read the wowwiki page for details. Any additional information pertaining to how we use Suicide Kings is below.
You can view the guild Suicide Kings list at any time on the raid site. You must be logged in to see it.
- At the beginning of an expansion, the loot list is cleared. For our first 25-man raid, everyone in the raid (and the waiting list) will roll in to the loot list.
- DotA members have priority over non-guild members as long as they reach the minimum requirements for the raid.
- Main spec is still priority over off spec.
- After the first raid, newcomers will be added to the end of the existing loot list. If there are multiple newcomers, they will roll for what order they are added to the end of the list.
- If there is a PuG member present in our raid, everyone who wants a particular item will roll. If the PuG wins it, s/he will get the item. If someone on the loot list wins, it will go to the top person on the loot list. If the PuG member wins, the PuG member will no longer be eligible for loot until everyone else who wants a particular item has won something. The PuG can be defaulted an item if everyone who s/he is supposed to roll against has already won an item and the PuG has not won anything.
- If no one is willing to take an item for their spot on the loot list, the item will be DE’d (unless it is BoE in which case it will be guild banked)
- Recipes are done as a /roll and are not counted against you for loot for the evening. If there is no one present who can use the item, it will be guild banked.
- Crafting materials such as Crusader Orbs will be guild banked.
